US$100M investment to advance housing infrastructure in Regions Three, Six
The government is advancing housing infrastructure development in Regions Three and Six through a US$100 million investment supported by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), with plans to construct approximately 90 kilometres of roads, alongside drainage and related infrastructure.
The Ministry of Housing, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA), has invited bids for infrastructure development works at Wales, West Bank Demerara, Region Three, and Moleson Creek, Corentyne, and Overwinning, East Bank Berbice, Region Six.
The works will include approximately 28.1 kilometres of aggregate surface roads at Wales, 39.3 kilometres at Moleson Creek and 22.7 kilometres at Overwinning.
In addition to road construction, the projects will include earthen drains, reinforced concrete culverts and bridges to support improved access, drainage and housing development in the communities.
The works form part of the Infrastructure Development Works for the Housing Sector Project, which is being financed through a US$100 million loan from the Saudi Fund for Development.
The procurement notices, issued on October 22, 2026, state that the contracts will be awarded through International Competitive Bidding, in keeping with the SFD’s procurement guidelines.
Interested contractors are invited to submit bids for the Wales project by 09:00 hrs on Thursday, January 7, 2027, while bids for Moleson Creek and Overwinning are due by 09:00 hrs on Wednesday, January 6, 2027.
The projects form part of the government’s continued investment in infrastructure to support housing development, improve access and drainage, and enhance living conditions for communities across the country.
